There are financial support options for professional recognition for people living in Germany.

If you are registered as unemployed or looking for work in Germany, you can receive financial support from the Federal Employment Agency or the Jobcenter. The costs for the recognition can be financed from the placement budget and possible qualifications with education vouchers .

The prerequisite is that the qualification and its provider are approved in accordance with the Accreditation and Approval Ordinance for Employment Promotion (AZAV). You can find further information here.

Another option for financial support is the recognition grant and the qualification grant. These are aimed at people working in Germany with a low income (currently less than €32,000 gross per year) and unemployed people who are not eligible for any other funding. The following grants can be awarded:

  • Costs of up to €600 as part of the recognition procedure.

  • Costs of up to €1,200 for qualification analyses.

  • Costs of up to €3,000 for qualification measures.

The recognition procedure must have already been completed and partial equivalence must have been certified for the qualification grant.

Further information on the recognition grant and qualification funding as well as the application form can be found here.

Talk to your employer to see if they can provide you with financial support.
