The district of Central Saxony is located in the middle of the federal state of Saxony, one of the 16 federal states that make up Germany. The district has an area of 2,116.87 km² with approx. 300,000 inhabitants, making it one of the largest districts in Germany. Central Saxony consists of 52 municipalities. The largest town and administrative center is the city of Freiberg with around 40,000 inhabitants. Other large towns are Döbeln with around 24,000 inhabitants and Mittweida with around 14,000 inhabitants. The proportion of foreigners in the total population is around 6%.

But you don't have to do sport alone. There are around 400 sports clubs for 80 different sports in Central Saxony. The sports range from soccer, handball and basketball to athletics, tennis, table tennis and many other disciplines.
