The aim of the work of the Commissioner for Foreigners is to promote the integration of people with a migration background at a municipal level and to help reduce existing structural and individual disadvantages. She is the contact person for foreign residents of the district of Central Saxony (including EU citizens, third-country nationals, late repatriates) and is also the point of contact for inquiries, complaints, submissions, consultations and conflicts in the area of migration.
Areas of responsibility:
Culturally sensitive information and information about language, history, culture and religion as well as political, social and economic contexts
Referral to the relevant offices, authorities, associations and institutions or, if necessary, own advice
Clarification of concerns by coordinating with the specialist offices and authorities, pushing for changes or monitoring, confirming and supporting the authorities' decisions
Mediation in intercultural conflicts
Promoting conflict resolution, understanding, tolerance and solidarity
Implementation of the migration network of the district of Central Saxony
Accompanying and supporting migrant organizations and integration projects in the district and strengthening their participation in local political decision-making processes and social participation
Promoting public awareness of the integration of people with a migration background, including through participation in relevant committees
Supporting and advising on the accommodation and care of asylum seekers and tolerated persons living in Central Saxony
